Fragrant raw quince with sugar - a simple quince preparation for the winter without cooking - recipe with photo.
There are many different recipes for preparing Japanese quince for the winter. Various syrups, pastilles, jams and jelly are prepared from these aromatic, sour yellow fruits. But during cooking, some of the vitamins are, of course, lost. I suggest housewives prepare Japanese quince with raw sugar, i.e., make quince jam without cooking according to my home recipe.
To prepare such a homemade preparation, we will need granulated sugar and ripe Japanese quince fruits.
How to make quince jam without cooking.
To begin with, I carefully wash each quince fruit to remove its natural sticky coating. The best way to do this is with a toothbrush.
Then we need to grate the washed fruits on a coarse grater. Try to rub the quince so as not to damage the seed pod of the fruit. An intact box of seeds should ideally remain in your hands. But, if suddenly you pressed the fruit a little harder and the seeds scattered, it doesn’t matter, just carefully remove them from the grated quince with a teaspoon.
Next, we transfer the grated quince into a container (preferably enameled or stainless steel) and sprinkle with granulated sugar. For one kilogram of grated quince fruits, add one kilogram of sugar. The quince and sugar need to be thoroughly stirred and left at room temperature for 6-8 hours so that the fruits release juice.
After the time required for the sugar to dissolve, you need to mix our mixture again.
Next, you just need to pack the raw quince mixed with sugar into prepared sterile jars, cover them with nylon lids and put the preparation in the refrigerator for storage.
Based on our homemade preparations, you can prepare various drinks and jelly. But, according to my family, there is nothing tastier than a cup of tea drunk with sour Japanese quince jam.
