Homemade jam from orange slices - a recipe for making orange jam for the winter.

Homemade orange jam
Categories: Jam

As it turns out, with the onset of winter, the home cooking season is not quite over yet. I offer a recipe for jam that is made in winter. Try to make a beautiful, tasty and aromatic jam from oranges - wonderful sunny fruits, with the zest removed.

And so, for two to three medium-sized ripe oranges we need:

— granulated sugar – 1 kg;

– water – 1 liter;

- citric acid - 3 g.

How to make jam from orange slices.

Orange zest

Before cooking the jam, we need to get rid of the orange top layer - the orange zest, remove it with a well-sharpened knife or grate the unnecessary zest.

Then fill our “sunny fruit” with cool water and leave to soak for 24 hours.

Next, we pierce each orange in several places with a needle (so that during subsequent cooking the fruits do not burst).

Bring the water with soaked citruses to a boil.

Boil for five minutes.

Cool the oranges quickly with cold water.

We perform this procedure 3-4 times.

Then, the cooled fruit must be cut into longitudinal slices into 10–12 slices, removing the seeds when slicing.

Next, we will dip the fruit into the syrup and simmer our jam over low heat until the desired thickness.

Just before it’s ready (4 to 5 minutes), you need to add citric acid crystals and, to give the product a richer aroma, add several orange peels, pre-soaked in water.

Orange slice jam, prepared according to this homemade recipe, has a very beautiful amber color, rich aroma and unique taste with a slight pleasant sourness.
