Each housewife can have her own recipe for “Hrenovina”. For those who do not know what is hidden under this name - it is a spicy seasoning of the “adzhika” type, but not subjected to heat treatment, i.e. raw. Its fairly long shelf life ensures that the product contains a large amount of horseradish root, which has excellent preservative properties. The preparation and recipe for “Hrenovina” is quite simple.

How to make horseradish at home.

Take 1 kilogram of ripe tomatoes and remove the stems from them. Cut the tomatoes into slices. Add fresh peeled horseradish root (60 grams) and peeled garlic cloves (also 60 grams) to the bowl with the preparation.

Grind all the prepared ingredients in a meat grinder, placing them mixed into the receiving hole. For high-quality chopping of vegetables, especially hard horseradish root, it is better to use an electric meat grinder - it copes better with hard products.

Salt the twisted mass with three teaspoons of salt and add sweetness in the form of one teaspoon of sugar.

Taste the preparation - if you think it’s not spicy enough, add another 40 grams of horseradish.

Do not use store-bought canned horseradish, which contains various additional ingredients, such as vinegar.Store-bought preparation will not make real “Hrenovina” tasty, and will even ruin its unique taste.

Mix the prepared seasoning thoroughly and place in clean, dry jars. Store the preparation in the refrigerator and try to eat it within 2-3 weeks. It is while the seasoning prepared without cooking is fresh that it will have the best taste.
