Homemade gooseberry preparation for the winter - how to make juice and filling for pies at the same time.
This recipe for homemade gooseberries is good because it allows you, as they say, to kill two birds with one stone. Or, after working once, preserve both healthy, tasty juice and pie filling for the winter. The so-called “pie filling” can be used in winter as a basis for homemade compote or jelly.
Ripe berries are used to prepare this homemade preparation. When preparing gooseberry juice, you can do without using sugar. And when preparing pies, you can use sugar as desired.
For preservation you will need:
- gooseberries, 1 kg.
- water, a quarter glass
- sugar, to taste.
Making this homemade gooseberry preparation We start by mashing the clean berries well in an enamel bowl using a wooden spoon.
Fill them with hot water, observing the proportion indicated above, and keep on fire for half an hour. Do not bring to a boil.
Then squeeze out the juice.

Pour sugar into the rest of the mixture, bring to a boil again, pour into jars, roll up, turn upside down. The pie filling is ready too!
