It is necessary to avoid, even if only slightly, swollen jars, those that have traces of corrosion, and those that will expire in a very short time. A damaged label also indicates an unscrupulous manufacturer. During storage, it is important to ensure that the thermometer readings always fluctuate between +3-+8 °C. Typically their shelf life is 2 years. This is a rather long shelf life for canned food due to the fact that before packaging they undergo sterilization, and then the heat-treated product is placed in a sealed tin container coated on the inside with varnish, enamel or half-glaze.
It is best to store canned food in boxes or crates in a dry and cool place. It’s correct if, in production, canned food in cans is lubricated with technical petroleum jelly. You can’t wipe it at home; it protects containers from corrosion.
