But if you create the proper conditions for storing any oil, it will remain in suitable condition for quite a long time.

Temperature conditions during oil storage

It is very convenient that vegetable oil in an unopened container is successfully stored at room temperature (+20-+24 °C), higher values are no longer acceptable. It is also unacceptable for the temperature to be lower than +5 °C. Ideally, in the place where the vegetable oil is stored, the thermometer is heated to +14 °C. Such conditions can be achieved using a wine refrigerator. Once a bottle of oil (especially olive, sunflower or flaxseed) has been opened, it is advisable to use it within 1 month. After this period, toxic and even carcinogenic elements begin to form in the oil. It begins to become rancid and loses its flavor.

Some housewives use open olive oil for frying. Opened flaxseed oil should be stored on the middle or top shelf of the refrigerator.

It is very correct to buy olive, flaxseed and unrefined sunflower oil in small containers.

Where to properly store oil

The most convenient place for storing oil is considered to be the countertop, but it cannot be considered a favorable environment for saving this product, because it is located not far from the stove, the container with the product is constantly exposed to daylight and artificial light, and besides, the temperature in the kitchen always varies. Therefore, it is better to pour the oil from a large bottle into a small dark glass container and keep it away from heat, and take the rest of the supply to the wine cellar or place it in a wine cabinet (the temperature of which is +14 ° C).

You can use a regular refrigerator to store oil, but take into account certain rules. Such a product stored in this device cannot be removed, left in a warm place, and then returned to the cold several times in a row.

Oil should be stored in the refrigerator in a compartment designed for storing fruits and vegetables, or on the very top shelf (in these places the temperature is 7-8 ° C), but indicators on other shelves are unacceptable for storing oil. It is also wrong to place a container with oil on the door of the refrigeration unit; temperature fluctuations occur here.

Oil storage container

The best option is dark glass containers that have a tight lid and are equipped with a dispenser or sprayer.

Do not store oil in plastic containers. Having bought it at the market in such a container, upon arriving home, the product should be immediately poured into a suitable bottle.

Proper storage of coconut oil

This type of oil can be used for a long time even at a temperature of +24 ° C and when the container with it is exposed to daylight and sun rays. But temperature indicators affect the consistency of coconut oil: at room conditions it is liquid, and if the thermometer is heated to +20 ° C it is jelly-like, in the refrigerator the product becomes solid. Therefore, coconut oil, which is necessary for frequent or daily use, is best left simply on a cabinet shelf or even on a countertop.

And, in order to store the product (especially unrefined) for a longer time, it must be placed on the top shelf of the refrigerator or shelf for fruits and vegetables. Under such conditions, refined coconut oil can be used for 1 year, and unrefined coconut oil for up to 6 months.

You cannot store the product in the bathroom, it is too humid there. It is best when this oil is stored in a dark glass jar with a tight lid.

Proper storage of butter

Butter should be stored in the refrigerator (top shelf, vegetable shelf and door), where the temperature required for storing the product is always maintained, ranging from 0 to 6 ° C. Under such conditions, an open pack of butter can be consumed for 15 days. But in order to extend this period to 1 year, you should use the freezer. It is worth taking into account the fact that in such an environment, over time, butter will lose a certain amount of taste and beneficial qualities.

It is also necessary to remember: you cannot leave the main ingredient of sandwiches on the kitchen table for a long time. When exposed to heat and light, it will turn yellow and begin to oxidize.

Plastic containers and plastic bags are not the best choice for storing butter; it will spoil faster in them.
