Proper care of sunflowers

The moment of cutting is a very important process, which determines the duration of flower storage. It is best to do this in the first half of the day, very early or late in the evening, when the sun's rays have minimal impact on the plant. It doesn’t matter what the weather is like outside. You should treat the flower itself with great care, rather than the stem and leaves. The shelf life of the bouquet in a vase depends on their condition (freshness, maturity, integrity, etc.).

When buying a ready-made bouquet of sunflowers, first of all, you also need to pay attention to the stems and leaves so that they are strong and fresh.

Conditions under which sunflowers should be stored at home

Firstly, this is natural, but very important: for a large bouquet of sunflowers you will need a spacious vase.Otherwise, heavy flowers may topple over at any moment, and the leaves will quickly begin to fade from being so closely in an uncomfortable container.

Secondly, before sending flowers to a vase, they should be cooled by placing them in a large container filled with cool water for 3-4 hours. This moment is needed for the sunflowers to absorb enough moisture and thus quickly get used to the new atmosphere. Thanks to this procedure, the bouquet will last longer in the vase, having an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

All leaf cover that is located at the bottom of the stem must be removed. This is exactly the part that is in the water. From a long stay in it, the leaves will very quickly begin to rot, and this will cause irreparable damage to the composition itself. Due to the rather large weight of the entire bouquet, it is advisable to use a special stand, which is sold in a store where flowers are sold.

For many flowers, it is customary to make a cross cut at the bottom of the stem; for sunflowers, such manipulation is unnecessary. In order for moisture to easily reach the flower, it will be enough just to “scratch” the side of the stem with a needle or knife.

Every day you need to make sure that cut sunflowers are in water, because this plant absorbs it very quickly. Also, in this regard, when transporting flowers, it is necessary to place them in water or, at least, transport them wrapped in a very wet piece of fabric.

Most flower sellers offer their consumers special water additives that can extend the storage period of cut sunflowers.

It is worth noting that sunflowers are calm about their neighboring flowers. On the contrary, not all plants can get along with them. But you don’t have to worry about this; A mono bouquet of sunflowers is so good that it does not need any special compositional combination.
