How to store sunflower cake, fruit and several other types of it
Usually a huge amount of cake is obtained in the production of sunflower oil, in other words it is called “makukh”. They feed rural animals; it is the most difficult to store, unlike, for example, fruit.
After preparing other oils (hemp, flaxseed, rapeseed, corn, etc.), cake also remains. Fishermen are most concerned about its successful conservation.
Proper storage of sunflower cake
Sunflower cake is usually stored on farms. In addition, it is naturally easier to arrange everything necessary for this. The success of storage directly depends on the quality of seed processing. It is very important that the cake is not wet (up to 12%). Otherwise, during storage it will begin to rot faster. Also, this food does not like the influence of sunlight. Store the pulp in a dry room with good air circulation. It is placed in bags or simply poured onto a clean concrete floor. If these conditions are not observed, the cake will become moldy or begin to “burn.”
In small quantities in an ordinary absolutely dry, dark glass jar, cake from sunflower and other oilseeds is stored by fishermen and used as bait. It is important to take into account the fact that the drier it is, the longer it will be usable.It is very important that the container has a tight lid, because moths also love this type of feeding, in addition, the slightest humidity will not allow the product to be preserved for a long time.
Proper storage of fruit pomace
Regarding the cake, which is formed after preparing juice, usually from fruits or even vegetables, rarely anyone stores it. In rural areas, the waste is given to animals, and in cities it is thrown away. But experienced housewives recommend using it for preparing various dishes. The “juice product” can be kept in the refrigerator for a day or two.
It is better to freeze a portion of the remaining cake, for which there are no immediate plans, in a food container with an airtight lid. It is also customary to store it in dried form. After drying, the cake must be crushed using a coffee grinder and stored in powder form in a tightly closed jar in a dry, dark place.
