Despite the fact that the pies are “swept away” immediately after baking, a few pieces are still left for later. In order to preserve their true taste for longer, you need to follow just a few recommendations from experienced housewives.

Proper storage of pies

It doesn’t matter what kind of pies you plan to store. Basically it is a filling surrounded by fried or baked dough. This dish can remain fresh for only 2 days. It is very important that there is no access to oxygen to the product after baking. Therefore, you should throw a clean and dry towel over the pies that have just come out of the oven. After cooling, you can extend their storage using cling film.

The housewife “reanimates” slightly stale pies by covering them with a damp towel or putting them in the oven or microwave. Those who think that the uncut pie is stored longer are mistaken, as the experience of housewives shows that the opposite is true.

When choosing a method for saving pies, you need to take the features of a particular dough as a guide.

From yeast dough

To properly store these pies you will need:

  • immediately after baking, place them on a wooden surface and cover with a dry and clean towel;
  • refuse to fold them in the usual pyramid when they have not yet cooled down;
  • store unfolded with the filling facing each other;
  • Place the pies in plastic trays or bags, if possible, protecting them from air.

You can extend the shelf life of yeast pies by using a refrigeration device. Fried pies are also stored.

From puff pastry

The rules for storing such baked goods are almost no different from the previous ones. Only during cooling should they not be covered, otherwise condensation will form. And here the main thing to remember is that puff pastry really doesn’t like a humid environment, so immediately after it has completely cooled, they must be placed in a deep container and covered as tightly as possible with a cotton towel (it “breathes”).
