What is the best way to store whey?
Serum, for its beneficial qualities, is highly valued in cooking and cosmetology. Housewives often worry about it not spoiling ahead of time.
Knowing some recommendations for storing whey at home, everyone will be able to preserve the useful product for the required time in a suitable condition.
Rules for storing whey in the refrigerator
When buying serum, you must pay attention to the date of manufacture and shelf life (maximum 72 hours). A quality product should not contain any unnecessary impurities. Expired whey does not need to be thrown away. It can be used for cosmetic purposes. After the package with the product is opened, the whey must be poured into a glass jar that closes tightly and sent to the middle compartment of the refrigeration device. At a temperature of 5 °C, the healthy product can be used for 3 days; outside the refrigerator, the whey will deteriorate after 2 days, or even faster.
Proper storage of homemade whey
It’s very good if you have the opportunity to make cheese at home. The serum from it is undoubtedly of high quality and healthier than what is sold in the store. It is very good if it is possible to store it in a refrigeration device.
The conditions are similar to those in the refrigerator, in the cellar and on the balcony.Room temperature is not suitable for storing useful substances. But if there is no other way out, then you can slightly extend the shelf life of the product by leaving it in a clean, dark container covered with gauze. This will ensure the evaporation of moisture from the serum. This process will act as a kind of cooler. The product that will be stored in this way should be used within 2 days.
Some housewives freeze the whey, but this method cannot be considered correct. In this state, the product will lose its usefulness. But if such a decision is nevertheless made, then it is necessary to send the whey to the freezer in a plastic container; glass may burst, since the substance swells during freezing.
