Therefore, you should carefully study the question of the conditions for properly storing this product at home, after catching or purchasing. It should not be forgotten that fish is a perishable product.

General rules for storing crucian carp

At first, you must take into account: no matter how fresh crucian carp will be stored, before sending it for storage it must be cleaned of entrails, fins, gills and scales. Most housewives, when fresh crucian carp appears in the kitchen, immediately put it in the refrigeration unit. And this is considered a big mistake. After all, normal conditions for storing crucian carp are considered to be temperatures from 0 ° C to 2 ° C; it is warmer in the refrigerator. Reducing them is wrong, since not all products in the device are suitable for such conditions.

Therefore, it is best to place the crucian carp in a plastic container, cover it with small pieces of ice and only then put it in a refrigeration device. The lid of the tray should be tight - this will help protect the “neighbors” from the unpleasant fishy aroma.

It happens that when a crucian suddenly appears in the house, there is no free space for it in the refrigerator. Then you can use people's advice.

  1. Fresh crucian carp can be stored for 3 days in a well-ventilated room. It is important not to wash the fish, but only wipe them with a clean rag or paper towel, and then rub the carcasses with salt mixed with ground black pepper.
  2. For 2 days, you can keep crucian carp fresh if you wrap each fish, previously sprinkled on all sides with coarse salt, in a clean natural cloth (it breathes), dipped in a mixture of vinegar and granulated sugar (2 teaspoons).
  3. Fishermen, in order to keep their catch fresh for as long as possible, bury a bucket of crucian carp in a hole (preferably close to a pond) and cover the top with something that will protect them from insects and the rays of the sun.

In winter, you can use the balcony to store crucian carp for 2 days; it is quite cool there.

But still, the best place to store crucian carp (but not more than 2 days) is fridge with temperature indicators from 2 °C to 5 °C. In a cooler bag you can keep crucian carp in a suitable condition for only about 12 hours. This option is only suitable for transporting the product.

But the best thing to do is not leave crucian carp, like any other fish, for storage, but try to cook it as quickly as possible. After all, the slightest failure to comply with the conditions for storing this product can promise serious poisoning of the human body.

Storing crucian carp in the freezer

The freezer is considered the most “correct” place to store fish for a long period. It is only important to decide right away whether you have plans for crucian carp on the same day after purchasing either the catch or not.Because fish that has been standing for a little while should not be sent to the freezer for saving.

Before freezing, crucian carp must be cleaned. But many fishermen claim that it is better to leave it uncleaned. If in the future you do not plan to cook them whole, then the fish can be divided into portions. After all, no fish is allowed to be re-frozen.

Prepared crucian carp should be placed in a food-grade plastic bag, and the air should be “squeezed” out of it as much as possible. The suitable condition of crucian carp in the freezer will remain for 3 months.
