How to make banana jam at home - a delicious banana jam recipe
Bananas have long ceased to be exotic for us, and most often they are consumed fresh. But you can make jam from a banana, just like from other fruits. Moreover, bananas go well with pumpkin, apple, melon, pear and many other fruits. They emphasize the taste and add their own unique banana aroma.
Of course, if you are preparing banana jam in combination with other fruits, consider the cooking time. To cook bananas, 20 minutes of cooking is enough, but for pumpkin or apples you need two or even three times more.
But, let's look at the recipe for making jam only from bananas. We will need:
- 1 kg bananas;
- 0.5 kg sugar;
- Juice of 1 lemon.
Peel the bananas and cut them into rings.
Place them in a saucepan with a thick bottom and sprinkle with sugar.
Pour 100 grams of water into a saucepan and place it on the fire. Preferably on a divider, or reduce the heat to the very minimum.
Slowly the sugar will begin to dissolve in the banana juice. Stir the bananas so they don't burn.
Bananas are already soft enough, but these are overripe bananas. If you have medium-ripe bananas, you can use an immersion blender for pureeing.
Of course, before this you need to remove the pan from the stove and cool the bananas a little.
Grinding bananas through a sieve is very difficult and few people have the patience for this job.Most are willing to put up with small pieces in the jam just to avoid the sieve.
So you've chopped your bananas. Now put them on the stove again and cook the jam for another 10 minutes. Add lemon juice and after 5 minutes the banana jam is ready.
It can be placed in sterilized jars and rolled up like regular jam.
Banana jam should be stored in the refrigerator or cool place, but not longer than 12 months.
