How to make fig syrup - a delicious addition to tea or coffee and a cough remedy.

Figs are one of the oldest plants on earth. It is easy to grow, and the benefits from the fruits and even leaves of figs are enormous. There is only one problem - ripe figs can only be stored for a couple of days. There are many ways to preserve figs and all their beneficial properties for a longer period. Figs are dried and jam or syrup is made from it.

Fig syrup has medicinal properties, so it should be consumed in small quantities. A tablespoon of syrup in coffee, tea, or milkshake is more than enough to transform the taste and improve your health.

The syrup is usually made from fresh figs, but if you only have dried figs, that's okay. The taste of the syrup will be richer and the color will be slightly darker.

  • 8 - 10 figs;
  • 250 g water;
  • 250g. Sahara;
  • Juice of half a lemon.

Chop fresh figs and place them in a saucepan.

Cover with water and cook the figs for 30 minutes.

After this, drain and strain the water in which the figs were boiled and add water so that there is again 250 grams.

Add sugar to the water and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into the syrup and bring to a boil again.

Pour the hot syrup into a clean, dry jar and close the lid.

Fig syrup can be perfectly stored at room temperature for up to a year.
