How to make candied pears at home
Incredibly tasty and aromatic dried candied pears will remind you of the warm season during the cold season. But in addition to being incredibly tasty, they are also very healthy. It is known that pear contains more fructose than glucose, so this fruit is useful for pancreatic dysfunction.
Drying will take longer than boiling, for example, but the result is worth it. Moreover, preparing candied fruits is a very simple process.
For drying, choose pears that are not yet ripe so that they are dense and not very juicy. I suggest using this step-by-step recipe with photos to prepare healthy sweets for children and adults.
Ingredients:
pear – 1 kg;
sugar – 200 gr;
powdered sugar – 100 g;
cinnamon – 1 tsp;
corn starch - optional.
We begin preparing candied pears at home with the selection and preparation of raw materials.
The first thing to do is wash the pears, let them dry for 15 minutes, and cut out the core. As for the peel, you don’t have to remove it.
Cut into slices of approximately 5 mm. Pieces that are too thick are bad because they will dry for a long time before turning into candied fruit.
Next, you should put the pieces in a saucepan, cover with sugar and cinnamon, leave for 1 hour so that the pear releases its juice.
Bring to a boil and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes.
Leave the slices to cool in the syrup so that they absorb the aroma of cinnamon and do not darken.
Place the cooled fruit pieces in a colander.
And place in the dryer in one layer.
Dry for 4-6 hours depending on the power of the device.
Sprinkle finished candied pears with powdered sugar or starch
It is better to store candied pears in a closed, airtight jar, optimally for about 2 months, but there is unlikely to be anything left that needs to be stored for that long. Good luck with your preparations!
