How to make cranberry juice - a classic recipe for making cranberry juice at home for the winter
Cranberry juice is unusually useful at any time of the year. Not only does it have an anti-inflammatory effect, but it also promotes gene expression. This means that the substances contained in cranberries are beneficial for women and children. They improve the functioning of the body at the cellular level, making it stronger, healthier and better. Well, the pleasant sweet and sour taste of cranberries does not need advertising at all.
Cranberry juice is often made in combination with ginger, honey, rose hips and mint. These are all useful additives, but they can be added immediately before drinking fruit juice. It is wiser to prepare cranberry juice for the winter in its pure form, according to the classic recipe.
Berries can be taken fresh or frozen. This will not affect the quality of the fruit drink or the cooking technique. Of course, if you have frozen cranberries, you need to defrost them first, and if you have fresh ones, rinse them in a colander and dry them. This is where all the differences end.
To prepare cranberry juice, use the following proportions:
- 1 kg cranberries;
- 300 grams of sugar;
- 3 liters of water.
Place the cranberries in a saucepan, and using a blender or potato masher, grind them into porridge.
Strain the resulting “gruel” through a cloth, squeezing out the juice as much as possible. Set the juice aside for now.
Place the pulp in a saucepan and fill it with water.Place the pan on the fire, add sugar and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved. Cover the pan with a lid and let the cranberry broth sit and brew for a while.
Strain the cranberry juice into a clean saucepan and mix it with the juice. The cake can be thrown away, he has already given everything he could.
Place the saucepan with the fruit drink back on the fire and bring it to a boil. It is not very dangerous for cranberries to boil, but still, do not let the fruit drink boil too much and boil for more than 5 minutes. This time is enough to kill all bacteria. Pour cranberry juice into clean, sterilized jars and seal them with lids.
There is no need to pasteurize fruit juice, and it will stand well for at least 12 months, even in the kitchen cabinet, next to cranberry syrup.
