How to cook banana compote with lemon/orange: the best ways to prepare banana compote
Banana compote is rarely cooked specifically for the winter, because it is not a seasonal fruit. Bananas can be bought all year round in almost any store. But still, there is always a chance that you will find yourself with a huge amount of bananas that you need to quickly cook somehow.
Banana compote is usually prepared with other fruits, whose taste and color are more pronounced. In summer it could be strawberries or blackberries. If you want to leave an exotic taste, then add pineapple, lemon, or orange to bananas.
For a three liter pan of water we will need:
- 2-3 bananas;
- one orange or lemon;
- 2 cups sugar.
Place a pan of water on the stove and pour sugar into it. While the water is heating, wash and peel the bananas. Cut them into small pieces.
Also wash the lemon in hot water. In this recipe, you should add the lemon along with the peel, so give the lemon a little extra attention. Cut the lemon into rings and remove the seeds, otherwise the compote will become bitter.
When the water in the pan boils, carefully pour the bananas into it. Let them boil for 5-10 minutes, after which you can add lemons to the compote.
When the compote boils again, pour it into a clean, sterilized bottle and cover it with a lid. Turn the bottle over and cover it with a blanket until it cools completely.
Banana compote can be stored for up to 6 months in a cool, dark place.It is better to drink it chilled.
Some housewives do not peel bananas. They say that this makes the taste of banana more interesting and rich. But the skins themselves darken when cooked, and it doesn’t look very appetizing. Perhaps you should try both recipes to choose the best one for yourself?
