For 1 liter of water you will need:

  • 1 pomegranate;
  • 1 cup of sugar.

Pour water into the pan and add sugar. After boiling, stir the water until the sugar dissolves.

Pour the pomegranate seeds into the pan and let them simmer for 2-3 minutes.

If you want to prepare pomegranate compote for the winter, you should immediately pour the boiling compote into sterilized bottles or jars and immediately screw on the lids.

If you want to drink it now, then cover the compote with a lid and let it brew for 20-30 minutes.

An ancient recipe for pomegranate and honey compote

For 3 liters of water you need:

  • 3 grenades;
  • 2 apples (preferably Semerenko);
  • 1 lemon (juice and zest);
  • 100 grams of liquid honey;
  • Cardamom.

Peel the apples, remove the seeds and finely chop.

Grate the zest from the lemon and squeeze the juice out of it.

Place apples, lemon juice, zest and cardamom in a saucepan. Fill with water and place on the stove.

When the compote boils, reduce the heat and let it simmer gently for 10 minutes.

During this time, peel the pomegranate fruits. Place the grains in a deep bowl, pour honey over them and stir very vigorously with a wooden spoon.

If 10 minutes of cooking have already passed, remove the pan from the heat, cover with a lid and leave the compote to steep for another 10 minutes.

Prepare thick-walled glasses or cups. Place 1 tablespoon of pomegranate-honey mixture in each cup and pour in more hot compote.
