How to cook mulberry compote - a recipe for making mulberry compote with cherries for the winter at home

Consider a recipe for making mulberry and cherry compote

For 3 liters of water you need:

  • 400 g mulberries;
  • 300 grams of cherries with pits;
  • 150 grams of sugar.

Before preparing compote, you need to sort out the mulberries. There is no need to wash it, otherwise you will damage the berries and they will release juice ahead of time. After all, mulberries are already clean if they were collected correctly.

If your cherries are frozen, you don’t need to defrost them; just put them in the pan with the mulberries.Sprinkle the berries with sugar and cover with cold water.

You need to cook the mulberry compote for 5-7 minutes.

If you are preparing compote for the winter, it is better to boil for 10 minutes and immediately after this time, pour the compote into sterilized jars and roll up the lids.

If you need compote for now, then take your time. Cover the compote with a lid and leave it to steep for one hour.

Strain the compote. During cooking, both cherries and mulberries had already given up everything they could and the berries themselves lost their taste.
