How to freeze milk
Is it possible to freeze milk, and why do it? After all, you can buy fresh milk in the supermarket, even every day. But we're not talking about store-bought milk. Of course, you can also freeze it, but there is no point. After thawing, some brands of milk separate and become rotten. It is simply not possible to drink it or use it to prepare something tasty.
Freezing cow's milk
This is a necessary measure for residents of the Far North to preserve milk suitable for drinking or making porridge. It is frozen in huge “washers” and small “tablets” in special forms for ease of transportation.
This experience was also adopted by urban residents of the middle zone and the south, who love homemade cow's milk. You won't go to the village every day, will you? Otherwise, you can immediately buy 20 liters, package it and freeze it.
To freeze milk, use thick Zip-Lock bags or regular plastic bottles.
You need to fill the bottles a little to the top, squeeze to squeeze out the air and immediately close the lid tightly. The bottles will swell a little when frozen, but this is normal, just keep this in mind when you pack the milk to freeze.
Freezing breast milk
When breastfeeding, there are periods when there is a lot of milk, then it decreases, then there is a lot again. This process is difficult to control, so caring mothers freeze their breast milk so as not to leave the baby hungry. Breast milk tolerates freezing well and does not lose its quality, even for 6 months, provided that the temperature in the freezer is stable and it has not been defrosted. Breast milk, like cow's milk, is poured into bottles or bags in portions, sealed and sent to the freezer.
Defrosting milk
Milk should be defrosted at room temperature, without forced heating in the microwave or in a water bath. Fat milk can separate, and you will see cream flakes on top and cloudy water underneath. It's not scary. After complete thawing, boil the milk, shake it, and you can drink it or prepare dairy dishes according to your taste.
