To make dogwood jam, you need to take ripe fruits, or even slightly overripe ones. Green and spoiled ones are not suitable. Green ones will be too sour, and rotten ones will taste bitter.

For 1 kg of dogwood you need:

  • 0.5 kg sugar;
  • 250 gr. water.

Rinse the berries with cold water and place in a saucepan.

Pour water over the berries and place the pan on the fire. As soon as the water boils, cover the pan with a lid and turn the heat down so that the berries are barely simmering.

This is necessary so that the berries are cooked and it is easier to remove the stone. This usually takes about 10-15 minutes.

Cool the dogwood a little so as not to burn yourself and pass the berries through a sieve. Use a masher to get the pulp through, leaving only the seeds in the sieve.

Add sugar to the resulting dogwood puree, stir and put the pan on gas again.

Now you need to boil the jam to the desired thickness.

Dogwood jam cooks quickly and from a kilogram of berries the jam will be ready in 30 minutes.
Hot jam should be placed in clean, dry jars and sealed with lids.

Turn the jars over and wrap them until they cool completely.

The jam can be stored at room temperature for 12 months.Dogwood is rich in vitamins and is used for colds and as a general tonic for vitamin deficiency.
