Strawberries for the winter without cooking or raw strawberry jam - recipe with photo
Fragrant and ripe strawberries go well with juicy and sweet oranges. From these two main ingredients, today I decided to make a delicious, healthy raw jam that does not require cooking using a very simple homemade recipe.
Unlike jams, which are prepared by boiling berries for a long time, this preparation is not so thick, but it retains 100% of all vitamins.
Ingredients:
• strawberries – 700 g;
• orange – 350 gr;
• citric acid (or 2 tbsp lemon juice) – 0.5 tsp;
• granulated sugar – 1 kg.
How to close strawberries without cooking
Pour ripe red berries into a large sieve or colander and rinse thoroughly under running cold water. Do not rush to remove them from the colander (sieve), you need to drain the water thoroughly from the berries.
Then, lay the strawberries on a flat surface and carefully discard spoiled, wrinkled and simply ugly berries.
If the berries are not sorted, raw jam can quickly ferment and it will not be possible to preserve strawberries for the winter without cooking. Therefore, take this stage very seriously.
We remove the tails from the sorted whole, beautiful berries.
To prepare an orange, you need to peel it, remove the rough remains of the white membranes (located under the peel) and divide the fruit into slices.
If you have a powerful blender (combine) (as in my case), there is no need to remove the peel from the orange slices.
If the processor power is insufficient or if you plan to grind the jam ingredients in a meat grinder, you need to peel the orange slices. And so, grind the orange in a blender until pureed.
Then, place strawberries in a blender bowl and grind the berries along with the orange.
Pour the resulting mass into a large stainless steel (or enameled) bowl, add citric acid (lemon juice), sugar and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Raw strawberry jam is ready. Before packing it into jars, let it sit at room temperature for two to three hours. During this time, the sugar will completely dissolve.
Jars and lids need to be sterilized in any way convenient for you. way.
After standing, mix the jam again and pack it into sterile jars and seal.
Healthy and tasty strawberry and orange jam can be served with tea, poured over cheesecakes, manna, and lazy dumplings. Using it, you can very easily prepare delicious jelly.
Raw strawberry jam can be stored in the refrigerator for no more than two months. If you plan to store raw jam for a longer period, then sugar should be added in the proportion of 2 kg of sugar per 1 kg of ground berries.
