Making hawthorn compote using this homemade recipe is very quick. The drink turns out aromatic in taste - with a pleasant sourness. We do not subject our preparation to long-term heat treatment, therefore, all the vitamins in such a compote are perfectly preserved.
To cook this compote we will need:
- prepared hawthorn pulp - 1 kg;
— apple juice – 1 glass (we can replace the juice with 3 grams of citric acid diluted in a liter of water);

Ripe berries need to be washed and the stems and seeds removed.
After that, pour the prepared fruits with apple juice (preferably sour apples) and boil for no more than 3 minutes. If natural juice is not available, replace it with citric acid dissolved in water.
After this, add the hot and ready-made syrup to the apple juice. Turn off and let our compote cool.
Once cooled, pack the compote into jars, which then need to be heated (sterilized) in boiling water for about five minutes and rolled up.
