Which berry to use
To cook compote, you can take fresh berries. It is usually collected in early September in damp, marshy areas. In addition to cooking compotes, fresh lingonberries are used to prepare syrup, boil jam or soak in water with sugar.
The frozen product, which can be found on store shelves or in the bins of your freezer, is also an excellent base for compotes.

Recipes for lingonberry compote in a saucepan
Easy way
Boil 1.5 liters of water in a saucepan. Add sugar (150 grams) to hot water and stir until it is completely dissolved. Then put 250 grams of fresh lingonberries into the syrup and wait for the liquid to boil. To preserve vitamins, continue cooking for no more than 3 minutes, and then close the pan with a lid. To ensure that the taste of the drink is as rich as possible, it is infused for at least 5 hours.
Vitamin lingonberry compote with cranberries
This recipe is ideal for treating colds and viral diseases.
100 grams of sugar are diluted in 1 liter of water. The mixture is brought to a boil and 100 grams of fresh lingonberries are added to it. After 3 minutes of cooking over low heat, the compote is filtered and the berries are pressed through cheesecloth to remove the skin.
Cranberries (50 grams) are ground through a metal sieve and the vitamin puree is added to the compote. Bring the drink to a boil, but do not boil. Before pouring the dessert into glasses, give it time to cool on its own under the lid.
Frozen lingonberries with apples
Sweet apples (2 pieces) are washed and cut into cubes or slices. With the second cutting option, the time for cooking compote can be reduced. Sliced apples are placed in boiling syrup made from 2 liters of water and 150 grams of granulated sugar. After 10 minutes of active boiling under the lid, frozen lingonberries (250 grams) are added to the compote, and after boiling the drink for 3 minutes, turn off the heat.
The infused compote is served hot or cold. If desired, the drink can be strained.
From dry fruits with ginger and lemon
Dried lingonberry compote is best cooked in a multicooker pan. The berries do not need to be soaked or pre-filled with boiling water.
To prepare the drink, place a handful of dry lingonberries, 3 lemon wheels with peel and 3 slices of fresh ginger root into the multicooker bowl. The products are poured with 2 liters of cold water. Cook the compote with the lid closed for an hour. You can select the program at your discretion: “Soup” or “Stew”.
The finished compote is left covered for another 3-4 hours so that the taste of the drink becomes more intense. In this case, the temperature maintenance function is disabled.
Lingonberry compote for the winter
Drink with pears with sterilization
Ripe, but not overripe, pears are washed and cored. Depending on the size of the fruit, they are cut into 4 or 8 parts.
Clean small jars (700-800 milliliters) are filled 1/3 with lingonberries. Sliced pears are placed on top, up to half the volume of the jar.
Boil the syrup on the stove (take 150 grams of sugar per 1 liter of water). Boiling liquid is poured into the berry-fruit base of the compote, and the jars are covered with sterile lids.
The workpiece is placed in a wide pan with water and sent to the stove for sterilization.
After 15 minutes, screw the lids tightly or tighten them with a special seaming wrench.
Without sterilization with apples
The apples are washed, freed from seed pods, and cut into slices. In clean banks that have passed sterilization, put berries with sliced apples. Boiling water is poured into the containers up to the very edge of the neck. Cover the top of the jars with lids scalded with boiling water and leave to “rest” for 15 minutes.
After this, the water is poured back into the cooking pan and 2 cups of sugar are added to it. Boil the sweet syrup for 5 minutes and pour it over the puffed lingonberries and apples.
After this, the workpiece is immediately twisted and covered with a blanket or warm towel.After a day, the lingonberry compote can be stored with other homemade preserves.
