Homemade red wine vinegar
In the fall, I collect and process red grapes. From whole and ripe berries I prepare juice, wine, preserves and jam for the winter. And if during the processing of grapes there remains cake or so-called pulp, then I do not throw away these remains.
I am used to making homemade red wine vinegar from them. In my step-by-step recipe with photos, I will tell you how to make grape vinegar at home.
So take:
- glass or enamel dishes, preferably a jar;
- red grape pulp;
- sugar;
- cold boiled water;
- reserve of patience for 3-4 months 😉 .
How to make wine vinegar at home
Wash, sterilize and cool the container in which the grape vinegar will mature. Fill the vessel with cake to one sixth of its volume.
Add granulated sugar to the jar in the same volume.
Fill the remaining volume with cooled boiled water.
Mix the contents of the jar, cover its neck with a piece of gauze folded in several layers. Secure the gauze by wrapping the neck with thin twine.
Place the dishes in a dark, warm place and be patient for three to four months. At the end of the specified time, remove the jar and, without removing the gauze, drain the liquid. In order not to hold the jar in your hands, you can build a system like this using a second jar and a funnel.
Pour the strained wine vinegar into a beautiful and convenient bottle and feel free to use it when preparing dishes.
The red wine vinegar prepared according to this recipe is completely natural and does not have any synthetic impurities. It can be safely used for marinating meat, in salads and other dishes.
