Quick pickled onions - an easy recipe for pickling onions in vinegar for a salad or just as a tasty snack.
Homemade pickled onions are an excellent preparation for those who love onions, but because of their natural bitterness, which can irritate the stomach, they are forced to deny themselves such a healthy vegetable. I have a wonderful easy homemade way to remove the excessive pungency from onions and very quickly prepare an appetizing and healthy pickled snack.
How to pickle onions in vinegar.
So, to begin with, we will cut the peeled onion into neat rings (circles).
Then, the chopped vegetable must be scalded with boiling water to remove excess pungency.
After this, pour the marinade over the onion rings.
It’s very convenient in my recipe that you can prepare the marinade to your liking, that is, put all the ingredients in it in the quantity of whatever marinade taste you like best. Depending on this, the onion will turn out: sour, sweet or sweet and sour. But a prerequisite for this recipe is that the marinade mixture must include table vinegar (apple, grape, wine vinegar), sugar and, of course, salt. I take ½ liter of water, ½ liter of 9% vinegar, 2 tablespoons of salt and 3 tablespoons of sugar. I repeat that you can safely take all the components of the marinade according to your own taste.
Our pickled onion will be ready very quickly. The savory appetizer can be served within a couple of hours.
You can use pickled onions in rings, as I already wrote, in various salads or as an independent snack. Our homemade onion preparation is stored in the cold (in winter) or simply in the refrigerator. Storage time is no more than one and a half to two weeks.
