Banana marmalade: making banana marmalade at home
This delicious marmalade can be rolled into jars and stored all winter. Or pour it into molds right away if you plan to eat it right away. After all, the aroma and quality of the product is better preserved if the container is closed.
Banana marmalade is very quick and easy to make. To prepare it you will need:
- 500 g peeled bananas
- juice from 4 oranges
- 350 g sugar
- juice from 2 lemons
- 20 g gelatin
Peel and chop the bananas. This can be done with a fork, blender, or just a knife.
Add sugar, squeeze the juice from the oranges into the banana puree.
Place the pan with the banana puree over very low heat and begin to cook, stirring constantly.
You can do without gelatin, since bananas freeze well anyway. But gelatin makes marmalade denser.
At first, mashed bananas don't look very pretty. Some kind of gray, pale, lumpy mass, and housewives begin to think about dye, but in vain. During the cooking process, the banana mass begins to change color from bright yellow to dark burgundy. When you see this, you can add gelatin to the mass, mix well and pour into sterilized jars.
This marmalade is good to spread on a fresh bun, or simply eat from a jar.
Children prefer chewing marmalade. But I was always scared by the shelf life of store-bought marmalade. You involuntarily begin to think about the number of preservatives, dyes and substitutes that are part of this beauty.
Probably, all this negates all the beneficial properties of marmalade and therefore, it is better to prepare homemade chewing marmalade for children.
Chewing marmalade for children is prepared from the same ingredients as in the recipe above. The only difference is that the amount of gelatin is doubled and the banana mass is immediately poured into small molds.
If there are no molds of a suitable size, cover the oven tray with cling film and pour the banana mixture in a 1 centimeter layer. Place in the refrigerator for 4 hours. When the marmalade has hardened well, you can cut it into cubes or strips and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Bananas go well with many fruits and berries. Try making banana and strawberry marmalade, like this one:
