Blackberry marmalade: how to make blackberry marmalade at home - a simple recipe
Garden blackberries do not differ from their forest sister in useful qualities. In addition, it is larger and more productive, thanks to selection and care. For an hour, gardeners simply don’t know what to do with such a rich harvest. Children, and even adults, do not really like blackberry jam. It’s delicious, nothing can be said here, but the small and hard seeds spoil the whole mood. Therefore, when preparing blackberry marmalade, you need to take this into account and not be lazy.
To make blackberry marmalade you need:
- 1 kg blackberries;
- 1 kg sugar;
- 2 glasses of water;
- 60 g gelatin.
Blackberries are very delicate berries and are very difficult to wash. Therefore, try to pick berries soon after rain, when they have washed naturally. This will save you from a lot of problems.
Place the blackberries in a saucepan, add one glass of water and one glass of sugar.
Stir and place on low heat. Cook the blackberries until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Remove the pan from the heat and strain the blackberries through a fine sieve. It's not that difficult, and you'll immediately feel the difference when no seeds get stuck in your teeth.
Place the saucepan with the juice back on the heat and add the remaining sugar. The “jam” should boil very slowly. Stir until the sugar melts.
Dissolve gelatin in water and add to the “jam”. Bring to a boil again and immediately remove from heat.
Cool the marmalade slightly and pour into molds.
Place in the refrigerator for 3 hours to harden completely. What remains can be poured into sterilized jars and left until winter.
