Sea buckthorn pureed with sugar and apples is a successful homemade recipe for the winter. After all, ripe juicy apples and ripe sea buckthorn berries complement each other very well in taste. A delicious assortment prepared according to such a simple recipe will replenish your body’s vitamin reserves in the cold winter.

Sea buckthorn and apples

What we need to make this homemade recipe:

— Sea buckthorn fruits – 1 kg.

- Water - 1 tbsp.

— Sugar — 500 g.

– Grated apples – 0.250 – 0.400 grams per 1 kg of sea buckthorn puree

Sea buckthorn berries need to be sorted out from bursting and spoiled ones and washed in cold water.

After washing, the berries need to be dried by pouring them in a thin layer onto a sieve and letting them dry.

Wipe the sea buckthorn

Then, grind through a food-grade stainless steel sieve to remove the sea buckthorn seeds that we don’t need.

Add sugar to the mashed puree.

For making apples, it is better to take sweet and sour varieties. It would be better if they were sweeter.

Place the fruit whole in a pan (preferably enameled) and, adding a little water, bring to a boil and cook for 8 – 15 minutes. Cooking time depends on the variety, degree of ripeness, size and acidity of the fruit. Sweet apples take longer to cook, but sour apples will be ready faster.

Boiled hot fruits, like sea buckthorn, should be rubbed through a stainless steel sieve or colander.

Add grated apples and sugar to the sea buckthorn puree and now you need to thoroughly mix the grated fruits and berries.

Heat the resulting mass to a temperature of 70 degrees and immediately package it in dry, hot sterile jars.

Then, the jars must be closed with sealing lids and pasteurized in boiling water - 0.5 liters - 20 minutes, and liter jars - 25-30 minutes. After sterilization, jars with sea buckthorn and apple must be sealed immediately.

In winter, sea buckthorn with sugar and apples will be very tasty to eat spread on toast or pancakes, or you can make it into a filling for pancakes or a delicious dessert.
