Apples are a versatile fruit for winter preparations. Housewives make jam, marmalade, compotes, juices from them, and add them to adjika. In addition to all of the above, I use apples to prepare a very tasty, slightly spicy, piquant apple sauce with curry for the winter.

How to make applesauce for the winter

To prepare such a preparation, I usually buy sweet and sour apples such as Antonovka or Pepin saffron. If you plan to give the sauce to children, then it is better to buy a mild curry seasoning, without adding hot pepper.

And so, we begin to prepare our delicious sweet and sour sauce. Apples must first be washed under running water and then peeled. You can peel the apples very carefully and thinly using a vegetable peeler.

Then, cut out the cores of the apples and cut the apples into medium-sized pieces (as in the photo below). Try to cut the apples quickly so that they do not darken.

Place the apple pieces in a stainless steel pan, add water and put on fire.

When the water boils, reduce the heat to low and, stirring occasionally, simmer the apples until soft (mine took 10 minutes).

Transfer the apple mass back into the stainless steel pan and add salt, curry seasoning and sugar.

Bring the puree to a boil and stir with a spoon until the salt and sugar dissolve. Then remove the apple sauce from the heat, add vinegar and mix well.

Spread our spicy apple sauce in sterile jars, cover with lids and sterilize for 10 minutes from the moment the water boils in the pan.

Do not forget to put a cloth on the bottom of the pan so that during sterilization the jars do not break on the bottom of the pan.
