To prepare, we will need 2 cans of 500 grams each:
melon - approximately 2 kg;
sugar - 500 gr;
vanillin -1 sachet (2 g), you can use vanilla in a pod;
zest of 1 lemon;
juice of 1 lemon;
pectin - 1 sachet (20 g).
Please note: for this recipe it is better to take soft, not crunchy, but aromatic and sweet melon
How to make melon jam for the winter
The first thing to do is sterilize jars and lids in any convenient way. How I do this can be seen in the pictures below.
Next, peel and cut the melon into medium pieces, mix them with sugar and vanilla in a saucepan, bring to a boil and boil for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, separately zest the lemon and squeeze the juice into a prepared glass.
Add squeezed lemon juice, zest and pectin to the melon boiled with sugar and vanilla, mix well and cook for another 5 minutes until large bubbles appear. They are clearly visible in the photo.
Remove from the heat and let it “calm down”.
Pour the jam into sterilized jars.
And we roll it up in any convenient way.
We store this quickly and simply prepared, but very aromatic and tasty melon jam with lemon in a cool, dark place, and when opened, in the refrigerator.
If desired, in this recipe you can simply replace the lemon with an orange, and if you don’t like vanilla, you can easily do without it. In a word, adjust the composition of melon jam to your taste.
We wish you a good mood and pleasant, sweet winter evenings!
