Homemade tomato ketchup is everyone's favorite sauce, probably because most store-bought ketchups are, to put it mildly, not very healthy. Therefore, I offer my simple recipe according to which every year I prepare real and healthy tomato ketchup, which my household enjoys.

It takes very little time to prepare it.

And so, the homemade sauce includes: tomatoes - 3-4 kg, bell peppers and apples - 1 kg each, hot pepper - 2 pcs, nutmeg - on the tip of a knife, citric acid - 1 teaspoon, sugar - 1 glass , salt - 2 tbsp. spoons, cinnamon - 0.5 teaspoons, basil - 3 teaspoons (you can take dry seasoning, or fresh herbs), ground red pepper - 0.5 teaspoons (this is for spicy lovers, you can do without it, since the recipe already contains hot pepper), cloves - 20 pcs.

The first thing you need to do when starting to cook is wash the vegetables.

Then, we clean the peppers from seeds and stalks, remove the core from apples, and also remove the stalks from tomatoes.

We cut the vegetables and put them in a meat grinder.

Place the crushed mass on the fire and simmer for an hour over low heat.

5-10 minutes before the completion of the process, add all the necessary seasonings and spices.Next, remove from the stove and cool. You can take it out onto the balcony at night. During this time, our homemade ketchup will cool and become saturated with the aromas of spices. The next day, grind the cooled mass through a sieve using a masher.

The result will be a thick, homogeneous mass, without seeds or peel.

Put this mixture on the fire and boil for 5-10 minutes. Our ketchup is ready.

All that remains is to pour it in advance sterilized jars, close the lids and wrap them in a blanket.

Delicious homemade tomato ketchup can be stored in a pantry. It takes a minimum of time to prepare, but it turns out delicious and healthy. This moderately spicy sauce is indispensable when serving dumplings, manti, shish kebab, pasta, potatoes, and when baking pizza.
