Delicious salad of green tomatoes for the winter with carrots and onions
After collecting the main harvest from a summer cottage, there are a lot of unused vegetables left. In particular: green tomatoes, gnarled carrots and small onions. These vegetables can be used to make a winter salad, which I also use as a dressing for soup.
I am posting a simple recipe with photos for anyone who is interested in how to seal delicious green tomatoes for the winter.
Ingredients:
green tomatoes – 1 kg;
carrots – 300 gr;
onion – 300 gr;
salt – 1 tbsp. l.;
vinegar 6% - 1 tbsp. l.;
spices - to taste.
How to make a green tomato salad for the winter
We start rolling by washing the green tomatoes, letting the water drain, and cutting into medium-sized cubes.
Wash the carrots and grate on a coarse grater.
Peel and chop the onion into cubes.
Place the cooked onion in a heated frying pan, fry until golden brown and add carrots, let simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Add chopped green tomatoes to the prepared mixture and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Salt the resulting mixture and add spices to taste. Suneli hops, a mixture of peppers, and dill are very suitable. Before the end of cooking, add vinegar to the preparation.
Winter salad should be placed hot in sterilized banks. Roll up, turn over and cover with a towel or blanket for one night.The next day, place in a dark and cool place.
Green tomato salad is very tasty. You can prepare it for the winter easily and quickly, without spending a lot of time and effort.
