How to make blackberry syrup - a recipe for making delicious blackberry syrup
Is there anything better than wild berries in winter? They always smell fresh and foresty. Their aroma brings to mind warm summer days and funny stories. This improves your mood and to make this mood last throughout the winter, prepare syrup from blackberries. Blackberry syrup is a treat and a medicine in one bottle. They can be used to flavor and color a variety of desserts. The bright, natural color and aroma of blackberries will decorate any dessert.
To prepare the syrup you need:
- 1 kg blackberries
- 1 kg sugar;
- water 1 glass;
- 1 tsp citric acid.
Blackberries are not washed before cooking. You just need to sort them out, remove twigs and leaves that might accidentally fall into your basket.
Add sugar to the blackberries, add water and stir with a wooden spoon. You need to let the berries release their juice so they don’t burn.
Bring the blackberries to a boil, then reduce the gas to low and after 10 minutes your syrup is ready. If you want pure, seedless syrup, you can strain it through a sieve.
After straining, the syrup should be boiled again, citric acid should be added, and then poured into clean, dry bottles.
With this ratio of berries, citric acid and sugar, the syrup can be stored at room temperature for about 6 months without any problems.
In a cooler place, shelf life increases to 2 years.
