Plum jam, recipe “Pitted plum jam with nuts”
Pitless plum jam is loved by many. Plum jam prepared according to this recipe can be made from any variety of plum, but it is especially tasty from the “Hungarian” variety. Let us remind you that prunes are made from plums of this variety.
So, to make plum jam we need:
Plums – 5 kg;
Sugar – 3 kg;
Soda (to soak plums) – 1 tablespoon per liter of water
How to make plum jam.
We divide my plums into halves (slices).
To ensure that the plum pieces retain their shape and remain intact, we recommend soaking them in a soda solution for 4-5 hours.
After the specified time has passed, remove the plums to a colander, rinse them under running clean water and let them drain.
Place the plums in a bowl for making jam.
Pour 100 gr. water and put on low heat.
After 15-20 minutes, add the specified sugar, mix gently, let it boil and cook for another 20 minutes over low heat.
When white foam appears, remove it.
Remove the plum jam from the heat and let it brew until the next day.
After 15-24 hours, put the plum jam back on low heat, cook for 20 minutes after boiling, then remove from the heat again and set aside to let it brew for another 15-24 hours.
Put the jam on low heat again and cook for 20 minutes after boiling.
At the very end of cooking (5 minutes before the end) you can add a bag of vanilla sugar, but you don’t have to add it.
Ready-made, very tasty pitted plum jam, pour into boiling water pre-prepared jars.
Cover with plastic lids or screw on.
Simple and delicious plum jam is ready!
Plum jam will get new notes and a slightly different taste if you cook the jam a little differently.
When removing the pit, do not cut the plum all the way. And, having removed the pit, instead of it we put a piece of pre-peeled walnut inside the plum.
Next, cook the jam using the technology described above.
