Dandelion juice - how to prepare and store for the winter

There are many recipes for making dandelion juice, and every recipe is good. But, different diseases require a certain type of juice, therefore, we will consider the basic recipes for preparing dandelion juice and the features of its storage.

Dandelion flower juice

To prepare any type of dandelion juice, you should choose plants away from roads. And it’s not about the dust; it’s easy to wash off. The fact is that plants accumulate harmful substances that fly out of car exhaust pipes, and instead of treatment, you risk aggravating the disease.

The challenge in juicing dandelion flowers is picking the flowers without letting them wilt. Some healers advise immediately taking a glass jar, sugar and a wooden round masher stick with you to the dandelion field.

Immediately place freshly picked dandelion flowers in a jar, sprinkle with sugar and immediately tamp with a stick. And so on, layer by layer, until the jar is filled to the top with flowers.

Cover the jar with a plastic lid and go home. Place the jar of dandelions in a cool, dark place for 3-4 days. During this time, you will see dark brown juice gradually forming in the jar, which is what we need. Drain the juice and squeeze the flowers thoroughly.

This juice cannot be boiled, and the only way to preserve the juice from dandelion flowers for the winter is by freezing it in the freezer. Pour the juice into ice cube trays and your juice will last as long as you need it.

Better to store dandelion honey. It's not difficult to prepare, and it stores much better.

Juice from dandelion stems and leaves

Cut off the entire dandelion, including the stem, flower and leaves (except the root).

Dilute water and salt in a deep basin. For 1 liter of water you should take 2 tbsp. heaped tablespoons of salt (can be table or sea salt). Soak the greens for 1 hour in salt water to remove the bitterness from the leaves.

Next, place the greens in a colander and rinse thoroughly under running water. Pour boiling water over the greens, and the preparation of dandelion leaves is complete. You can proceed directly to preparing the juice. Twist all parts of the plant through a meat grinder and squeeze out the green “gruel” through gauze.

Dandelion juice is ready. To preserve the juice from dandelion leaves for the winter, you can also freeze it, or use alcohol as a preservative.

For 1 liter of dandelion leaf juice, take 150 grams. alcohol, or 300 gr. vodka.

Dilute the juice with alcohol, pour it into a sterile bottle and seal the stopper. Choose a cool, dark place to store the juice, where it can be stored for about 4-5 months. If the juice begins to ferment a little, there is nothing to worry about, this will not affect its medicinal properties in any way and you can use the dandelion juice until the new harvest.
