Sterilization of canning jars at home is a very important process for obtaining the final result when preserving for the winter. Therefore, before preservation begins, you need to prepare and sterilize the jars. What does container sterilization involve?
Let's start by selecting whole jars without damage or defects. Wash them thoroughly, let the water drain and dry.
The next step is to prepare the lids for preservation. Lids must be used smooth, clean, free of rust and scratches. If these are metal lids for seaming, be sure to check for the presence of rubber bands.
There are different ways to sterilize canning containers. I will highlight five that are the most common in my opinion:
1. Steam sterilization, or rather steam using a pan.
2. Sterilization in a double boiler.
5. Sterilization of jars in dishwashers with a sterilization function.
