You can dry apples of any size in electric dryers, but only small garden apples are suitable for drying in the oven - they are not too sweet, and late varieties of apples have little juice.

If you decide to make something like dried apples in the oven, then I will tell you in my step-by-step recipe how to do it correctly.

To get half a kilogram of dry apples, you need 2 kilograms of fresh apples.

How to dry apples in the oven

I often use carrion for drying, therefore, before preparing for drying, the apples must be thoroughly rinsed to remove sand and other build-up.

After this, place the apples on any canvas that absorbs moisture well. I don’t recommend wiping apples; even carrion has a thin skin that can be easily damaged. And then instead of apple slices there will be applesauce, which cannot be dried.

We cut each apple into eight parts, remove the center with seeds, a twig and the “tail” on the top of the apple.

Before placing the apples on baking sheets, you need to warm up the oven well, because during the drying process the oven will be slightly open so that the moisture from the apples can easily escape. Place the apple slices in a large container and leave them in the air until the slices darken a little.

Preheat the oven to 150 degrees. Place a kilogram of apple slices on each baking sheet.

Place one baking sheet on the top shelf of the oven, the second on the lowest shelf.

The oven remains slightly open for the entire drying period, so you cannot cook on the stove. Every half hour, mix the apple slices with a spatula and change the baking sheets.

In the photo, the apple slices are medium-ready; they can already be taken out of the oven, but they won’t be able to be stored for longer than two months - the apples will begin to mold, since there is still moisture in the slices.

These oven-dried apples are already ready, they are completely dry, and can be stored for a long time. You can use a plastic container with a lid for this. The total drying time for apples depends on the juiciness and amount of sugar in the apples, but usually it takes 4 to 5 hours.
