Raw tea rose petal jam - video recipe
The tea rose is not just a delicate and beautiful flower. Its petals contain a huge amount of vitamins and microelements. Therefore, many housewives traditionally prepare jam from rose petals in the spring.
In a product that has undergone heat treatment (cooking), most of the vitamins are lost. I would like to share with housewives a recipe on how to prepare fragrant, tasty and healthy raw jam from tea rose petals for the winter.
Ingredients:
• tea rose petals – 400 g;
• granulated sugar – 4 cups;
• lemons – 2 pcs.
How to make tea rose jam without cooking
If this beautiful plant grows in your garden plot, away from dusty roads, then you don’t have to wash the petals before preparing this preparation. We simply sort them out from debris, twigs, insects and discard the darkened ones.
Rose petals purchased at the market should not only be sorted, but also rinsed under running water, and then dried on a paper towel.
We will prepare raw jam in dishes that do not oxidize (ceramics, stainless steel, etc.).
And so, put the clean petals in a bowl and pour sugar on top. So we lay it out in layers until the raw materials run out.
Then, squeeze the juice from the lemon into a separate container so that the lemon seeds do not get into the jam. Pour the resulting juice over the petals.
After this, mix and lightly knead the petals with sugar and lemon juice.This procedure can be done by hand or with a wooden spoon.
Next, leave the jam preparation for six to twelve hours at room temperature. During this time, syrup is released from the rose petals and the mass decreases in volume.
At the next stage, we need to grind the mass using a blender or meat grinder.
Remember that rose jam oxidizes, so contact with the blender or meat grinder should be minimal. We do everything quickly.
Place the tea rose petals ground with sugar into a sterile container, filling it to the very top.
Sprinkle a centimeter layer of granulated sugar on top, which will prevent the jam from oxidizing. Next, screw the jars of cold jam on with clean lids and put them in the refrigerator for storage.
