Delicious apricot jam in slices
I offer housewives a simple homemade recipe on how to prepare aromatic and tasty apricot jam in slices or, more precisely, whole halves for the winter. The process of making jam is long, but extremely simple.
Step-by-step photos will serve as a visual guide and help you do everything correctly.
Ingredients:
- apricots – 2 kg;
- citric acid – 1/2 tsp;
- sugar – 2 kg.
How to make jam from apricot halves
The first thing to do is prepare the fruits for cooking. Pour cold water into a saucepan (bowl), place the apricots in it and carefully, so as not to damage the fruits, wash them from dirt.
Then we break it in half and carefully remove the bones from them.
Place the apricot halves in a bowl (broken part up), sprinkle generously with sugar and leave the jam in this form for 12 hours.
Don’t be alarmed, at first it looks like there is a lot of granulated sugar, but this is exactly the amount of sugar needed to form a sufficient amount of syrup.
We will boil the jam in three steps with an interval of 12 hours.
That is, we bring the jam to a boil, collect the foam, turn it off and let it brew (and so on twice).
The third time we add citric acid dissolved in a tablespoon of water and cook the jam to the desired thickness.
Ideally, when checking the readiness of the jam, simply drip a little syrup onto a saucer and let it cool.When the jam is normally ready, the drop should not spread.
Then all that remains is to pack the hot jam into sterilized jars and seal with lids.
Jars of jam should be turned over and placed on lids until cool.
Look how appetizing the apricot jam looks in slices in a vase.
The halves of the sunny fruit are whole, the color of the workpiece is rich orange, and the taste and aroma are simply amazing.
I will be glad if apricot jam prepared according to my recipe will create a warm and joyful atmosphere at your tea party.
