Delicious jam made from watermelon rinds with ginger can be attributed to the series “Everything can be used for the thrifty housewife.” But, if we put jokes aside, from these two products, following the original old (but not outdated) recipe, you can make a very appetizing and piquant homemade jam for the winter.
And so, for our preparation we should prepare:
- one glass of already boiled watermelon rinds;
- one glass of ground ginger root;
- one glass of sugar;
- water - from ¼ to ½ cup.
How to make jam from watermelon rinds for the winter.
The preparation begins with the fact that you need to cut off the rough green peel and cut the resulting white pulp into small cubes, boil in water, and then discard the boiled pulp in a colander.
Next, lightly squeezed crusts should be covered with chopped ginger and set aside for 24 hours to infuse in the cold.
After 24 hours, you need to rinse the watermelon rinds thoroughly in warm water several times.
Make a syrup from water with added sugar, pour it over our crusts and then cook the workpiece for 15 - 20 minutes like any other jam, periodically removing the foam.
At the end of cooking, pack the jam into jars and seal them.
Ginger root will add piquancy and slight spiciness to jam prepared according to our old recipe.This homemade jam made from watermelon rinds is delicious spread on fresh buns and served with herbal tea.
