It is better to cook chokeberry jam, but add just a little citric acid. The acid will remove viscosity and create a pleasant aftertaste. I suggest you make my own very simple jam recipe. Step-by-step photos will illustrate the preparation of the workpiece.

For 1 kg of chokeberry you will need the same amount of granulated sugar, 2/3 cup of water and citric acid on the tip of a knife.

The juice of rowan fruits stains everything - from hands to kitchen utensils, therefore, it must be washed under a strong stream of cold water. At the same time, cobweb threads, leaves, twigs and berry stalks will emerge. During this procedure, you can immediately wash the berries, get rid of debris and avoid staining your dishes and hands.

Pour the water specified in the recipe into a saucepan and place it on high heat so that it boils faster. Add 2/3 of the sugar, stir while boiling gently until it is completely dissolved.

We measure out citric acid with a teaspoon and add it to the already prepared boiling sugar syrup!

Cook the jam over medium heat for 15 minutes, remove from heat.

Cover the mixture with the remaining sugar and leave for two hours.

When the sugar is completely dissolved, the chokeberry jam should be cooked for another 15 minutes. I pour the warm jam into three-liter jars. This time it was just a little short of a full jar. 😉
