How to make jam from rowan berries and apples for the winter.

Red rowan and apples

For 700 grams of rowan fruit we need 1.2 kg of sugar, 300 grams of apples and 2.5 glasses of water for syrup.

We will sort out the red rowan from spoiled and unripe fruits and separate them from the bunches.

Blanch the berries prepared in this way in boiling water for 5 minutes, then place them on a sieve.

The syrup for our preparation can be prepared directly in the water in which we blanched the rowan. Pour the water into a basin and boil it, adding 2/3 of the sugar prescribed in the recipe.

Dip prepared rowan berries and apples of non-cooking varieties, previously washed and cut into slices, into the syrup.

Leave the boiled syrup with rowan berries and apples in a basin covered with a towel for 10 hours. After this, add the remaining sugar, bring to a boil again and set aside for another 8 hours.

We will pack the finished assortment into jars.

Rowan jam can also be made with pears instead of apples.

Apple and rowan jam prepared according to this recipe stores well and will replenish the body’s vitamin supply in winter. When the need arises, by showing your imagination and using this rowan berry preparation, you can prepare many different delicacies.
