Most often, assorted berry compote is cooked for the winter. But sometimes you want to cook a simple mono compote. I suggest using this recipe and making homemade, very tasty gooseberry compote.

To prepare compote, it is necessary to use berries that have not reached full ripening. It is better to collect such gooseberries 2-3 days before ripening.

To prepare the compote you will need:

gooseberry

- syrup (for every liter of water - 1.5 kg of sugar)

- citric acid solution (for every liter of water - 1 gram).

How to cook compote for the winter at home

We remove the stalks, wash the berries in cold water, and prick them.

Pour citric acid into the water, put it on the fire, when the solution boils well, lower the berries into it for a couple of minutes.

After blanching, quickly transfer them to cold water for 2-3 minutes.

Then place the gooseberries in jars and pour hot sugar syrup over them. After which we send them to sterilize for a quarter of an hour.

After the specified time, screw the gooseberry compote with lids.

The ideal storage temperature for gooseberry compote prepared at home for winter storage is 10-15 degrees.
