Dried red rowan berries - a technology for drying rowan berries at home.
Drying berries is one of the simplest ways to prepare healthy fruits for the winter. And dried and dried red rowan, the beneficial properties of which our ancestors have long known, is one of the tasty, environmentally friendly and non-chemical options for strengthening the immune system. Necessary tools and ingredients for making dried red rowan:
- containers, including pots and jars (or whatever you like best);
- oven and baking tray;
- sieve;
- gauze;
- heating installations (possibly a stove);
- water;
- Rowan;
- sugar in the amount of 0.5 kg per 1 kg of rowan.
How to prepare dried red rowan berries:
- after the first frost, collect rowan berries, separating them from the branches;
- pour boiling water for 4 minutes;
- drain the boiling water and add cold water to the rowan for 12-15 hours, during which time change the water several times;
- dry;
- sprinkle with sugar (250 grams per 1 kg of berries) and leave for 20 hours;
- drain the juice into a separate container;
- sprinkle with sugar again (again 250 grams per 1 kg of berries) and leave for 20 hours;
- pour the juice into the first one again, mix with the previous one and roll it into jars in the standard way;
- prepare sugar syrup in the proportion of 350 g. water per 400 gr. Sahara. And this is for 1 kg of rowan;
- pour the syrup over the berries, bring to 85°C and leave for 7 minutes;
- cool the resulting mixture;
- pour the syrup through a sieve;
- Place the berries on a baking sheet, then place in the oven at 80°C and leave for 20 minutes. - 1 time, and after, 25 minutes. at a temperature of 60-70°C - 2 times;
- After the rowan has cooled, place it in a sieve, cover with gauze and leave it over a stove or other suitable heating device for 4-6 hours at a temperature of 30°C.
Red rowan - a simple and natural remedy for vitamin deficiency, ready. Dry berries are transferred to clean jars or boxes for storage.
